Currently: Mechanical Engineering Student

I chose UB because of the school’s great engineering program and because of the many opportunities it had to offer. Because UB is a larger school, I could take my engineering classes, but also take other classes that interest me outside of my major.

For the past three years I have been a student assistant for the freshman engineering classes, EAS140 and EAS202. My experience being a student assistant for these classes has been the most helpful during my time in MAE. Helping freshman students with problem solving has helped me develop my own methods of problem solving that will help me in the real world.

My favorite thing about UB is the many opportunities the school has to offer. I am currently a Senior Mechanical Engineering student; therefore, a majority of my day is focused on either homework, projects, or studying. However, not everything is engineering. I am on the Women's Club Volleyball team and if I need a break from studying I can go to practice for a few hours.

My advice for incoming students is to take advantage of all the opportunities UB has to offer and get as much real world experience as you can.

“Professor Philip Cormier has been the most helpful person during my time in MAE. He has been my professor for several classes throughout the past four years and has always answered any questions not only regarding the class but what classes to take in the future, and how to get an internship.”
