Introduction

The combustion laboratory is a research facility focused on the study of turbulent combustion and fluid mechanics. The laboratory is located at the center of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of New York at Buffalo and is directed by Dr. David J. Forliti. The research objective is concentrated on developing a better understanding of turbulent combustion and fluid mechanics processes through experimental investigation, where active research and development take effect to obtain efficient combustion and reduce emission in propulsion systems. The combustion lab is equipped with advance laser diagnostic tools which aid the study of turbulent mixing and chemical reaction. The laboratory employs various experimental tools to assist the research. Numerical tools are also employed to aid experimental research.
